well, that is really twisting that scene imo.
have you ever met someone who is just better than you? doesn’t have to be romantic. just a person. someone you’d like to be friends with but, man, they are just at the top of their game and it inspires you to be a better version of yourself?
i have. and so have most of the people i have met. it happens professionally to me all the time.
some people meet people that bring out the worst version too.
my wife is a better person than me. she was on our first date. i wanted to be with her. not as a trophy for myself. as a life i wanted to be part of. a goal i wanted to hit. and she still is.
My best friend is the greatest person I know. I nearly lost her because of my own bullshit a little while ago, and as a result forced myself to become the best version of me that I could. Still working on getting to be as good a person as her, but that’s a high bar to reach.
